Comments about Laguna Mobile Cyclone 2HP :
Laguna has put some good thought into this tool, and it works well. The suction is quite good -- I upgraded from a 1-1/2 HP bag collector, and even though the HP rating on this machine is only 2 HP, it's a huge improvement from the bag collector. (I assume the larger impeller makes a big difference.) I'm about to upgrade my ducting to 6" pipes, and I'm hoping to see even more improvement once that is done. There are many nice convenience features on the tool. The remote control is very nice. The clamps for the trash can are extremely convenient. The mobility system is very nice as well -- 4 swivelling casters. To me, the Laguna is superior to the 2HP Oneida mobile DC model in all of these areas. Although the cyclone is smaller than some of the non-mobile units out there, very little dust gets into the filter and the collector bag that sits below the filter. I get 1/2 cup or so of dust in the collector bag for each full trash can of chips and dust. So the cyclone is pretty efficient for a relatively small machine. One of the nicest things about this machine is the noise. No dust collector is quiet, but this is the quietest one I have ever used. There's certainly some noise, but I was pleasantly surprised. I see some people building enclosures for their stationary cyclones to cut down the noise, but this model is quieter than my power tools. There was a video review on YouTube of this machine that noted some QC problems. Either I got a good one or they solved the QC problems, because I had none of the problems the fellow in the video had. (Although Laguna apparently resolved his issues as well.) Overall, I give this machine a very positive review. However, I knock off one star for the fact that, for a little more money, you can get a very nice 5HP stationary cyclone. While I prefer the small profile and mobility of this unit, I think there should be a bigger price drop from the large 5HP stationary units down to this model. With that said, the price of this unit is very competitive with the similar O'Neida model, and I prefer this Laguna to the similarly priced O'Neida. If I could give this machine 4-1/2 stars, I would.
