Comments about 8in Slow Speed Grinder :

I am pleased with the grinder, but more pleased with the folks at Woodcraft. The tool initially sent was damaged during shipping. On calling Woodcraft, I was assured of a replacement unit, but I was facing a two month back-order interval. Rather than letting me wait 60 days, an enterprizing Woodcraft manager located a replacement grinder in a Woodcraft store and had it shipped to me immediately -- all without my having to raise a fuss. Nice tool, great service!

Comments about 8in Slow Speed Grinder :

Cost/performance is great. Although there is a little vibration after balancing, it does not effect results. Using it with my Volverine jig, I get perfect lathe tool edges. I do wish it were even slower, as you have to be very careful to avoid burning the smallest gouges (granted the one in question is cheap).

Comments about 8in Slow Speed Grinder :

I received the first grinder with a damaged wheel. Tried everything to make it run smooth,no luck. I called Woodcraft and they sent me a new one, PROMPTLY. The new one runs great with no vibration! (I replaced the stones with Norton wheels.)

Comments about 8in Slow Speed Grinder :

The seat for the alignment flanges is too narrow and so it's difficult (and sometmes impossible) to get the wheels to run smoothly. One of mine would and the other would not. You should not have to roate the flanges to get the wheels to run smoothly. This is a design flaw. When you unpack it and turn it on it should run properly! The people at Woodcraft were friendly and helpful, but this is a flawed product.

Needed for sharpening lathe tools. Purchased on sale at the best price for any slow speed I could find. Variable speed would be a plus, but price wins!

Comments about 8in Slow Speed Grinder :

I purchased the slow speed 8 inch grinder for sharpening lathe chisels. I have used it one time to sharpen them and it worked very well. Since there are no mouting instructions, dimensions, or base template, some figuring is necessary if you plan to use it with the Wolverine Sharpening System. The grinder base needs to be raised to give clearance between the bottom of the grinding wheel guards and the grinder mounting platform for the Wolverine Sharpening System.
