First, this unit will fit smaller routers like the Porter Cable 690/680 series. You just need to pay a little extra for the motor adapter pads to fit them. This is a perfect for those of us who got a wimpy 1 & 3/4 router from a box store not knowing any better and will grow with you to accomodate the larger industry standard 3 & 1/4 motor when you can afford one (drools at the festool). Just got this thing setup in a brand new Kreg router table top and wow I'm impressed. I was looking for a lift even though I didn't know the lingo and this thing is awesome because you can change the bits without removing the router and the fine adjustment capabilities using the thumb wheel allowed me to duplicated cuts perfectly days after cutting the first peice of wood and various bit changes. My first router table came as a packaged deal and what a pill of scrap that thing is now compared to this. I was looking at making a custom wood door and new cabinets for the kitchen and I would have never succeeded with that box store bought pile of you know what but with this puppy I'm well on my way. Though I don't own any other lifts I believe this one to be superior because of two things: 1) the micro-adjustments can be done with your thumb and doesn't require any special tool that will eventually be lost or misplaced to set the height of the router bit and 2) the spring assist lift tool allows you to change the depth in seconds to change the bit and then put it back to cutting depth but with other models you have to use their crank for 60+ seconds to get to the height were you could change the bit and then another 60+ seconds to lower it back to the cutting height.

This lift is all the ad said it would be. The motor adapter pads installed easily. The aluminum plate did not fit the opening in my Kreg router table initially. A few minutes sanding the edges of the recess were required and the plate fit perfectly.

Excellent when used in conjunction with a Kreg Router Table. Height adjustment, bit changes - what a breeze, no more busted knuckles loosing the collet!
