Comments about Nova Precision Midi Chuck with Two Jaw Sets :

The photo with this chuck at the time I ordered it had a photo of the G3 chuck. The difference is the G3 uses a single T-handle wrench to adjust the jaws whereas this model uses two bars. The construction quality is very good and range of jaw options is fine. Should be a good chuck albiet not the same ease of use as the G3 but it is somewhat less expensive.

Comments about Nova Precision Midi Chuck with Two Jaw Sets :

NOTE: I purchased this for my husband, these are his comments and responses. I use it on a mini-jet lathe turning segment bowls. It's easy to remove the nova chuck from the lathe without unchucking the bowl. The quality of the chuck is excellent and I would definitely recommend it to a friend or another carpenter.

This chuck has a really bad grip. I've had four pieces come off already. Only buy this chuck for very small work.

Comments about Nova Precision Midi Chuck with Two Jaw Sets :

I wanted a second chuck so I wouldn't have to be swapping jaws all the time. Of course, my previous chuck is a different brand, so none of those jaws fit.If there are directions or a manual, I couldn't find it, other than the fine-print small sheet that's more like a "how to mount the chuck to your lathe" direction sheet. The instructions for "use the grub screw to tighten the fiber friction washer" didn't seem to note that, of four holes around the periphery of the chuck, only one is threaded for the grub screw. Enjoy the challenge if you don't notice the threading on only ONE of them and have to fish the fiber washer OUT after you've jammed it into the wrong spot. [a long scribe works well for that.]Quite smooth operation in use, but when the box says [*]I was disappointed. But so far, so good.

Comments about Nova Precision Midi Chuck with Two Jaw Sets :

I had issues at first using this product... BUT I broke down and Read the manual. (I chalk that up to Army Training) So before even purchasing, understand that this chuck was designed for the midi/mini Lathes. 1" in 8TPI. Double Check your spindle threads before you purchase. All Jaws Nova/Teknatool makes can fit on the Midi Chuck. However not all are recommended. With that I will say this, Read the Manual before using and continue reading the manual as you get through the learning curve.

Comments about Nova Precision Midi Chuck with Two Jaw Sets :

I think the people that had trouble with this either had it on the wrong lathe, or were confused about its proper use. You can use the jaws out or in (recess or spigot as they call it), and I find the spigot use very handy. It is very well made and the sale price at [...] ([$]) makes it a good buy. You need a 1"X8 TPI thread on your lathe!

I brougt this chuck in DEC 2010 and I too have had problems with this chuck hold pieces and not matter how much you tighten it. I also contacted the maker of the chuck and got nowhere with that. i just hate ruining turnings because of this chuck i brought another kind. LOVE IT.

Comments about Nova Precision Midi Chuck with Two Jaw Sets :

I purchased this chuck to complement my Oneway Stronghold. This chuck is made for 1x8 spindles only as it does not use an insert. When attached to my Oneway 1224, the spindle interferes with the jaws, i.e. the jaws cannot be completely closed or if the jaws are closed when attached, the jaws cannot be opened. The chuck works fine when attached to my Jet Mini. I contacted the manufacturer about the problem and got no response.

my only concern is that he right up was very unclear if it was a single key or the 2 bars. I think it could have been more clear maybe better photos from Manuf site. However the Chuck is wonderfull works Great I threw out my chineese 4' one for this and WOW am i glad. The price was perfect.
