As hoped to be.
Jet 17" Drill Press, Model JDP-17DX
The directions were a little slim but things got figured out. Definately need a second person to lift on the motor housing. Laser light very useful, work light socket awkward to access and was not straight. Using it within minutes of final assembly with desirable results. Not looking forward to manually changing belt positions for speed adjustment.

I contacted Jet tools to let them know that even their web page had wrong info. I bought this drill press primarily for the lower spindle speed of 200 rpm, but discoved that 230 is actual lower end speed, and the higher rpm is also incorrect.
The pulley housing vibrates, but I have gotten accustomed to the noise. Big bits such as 3 1/8 saw tooth bits slip
Good Bang for the Buck
The laser housing was broken at a weak and narrow point in its aluminum casting when the drill press arrived but Customer Service sent a new out right away.
The cast table seems a bit cheaply made but does what it's supposed to do.
I always research my tool purchases and, after reading all the reviews and considering the price of other much higher-priced models, I bought the Jet model. I think it's a good product for the price.
Solid Drill Press for the money
Have this in my shop for a few months now with regular use. I would have preferred a chuckless head and a better depth lock out of the box. The laser is not that great but adequate for my needs. Overall solid piece of equipment.
[...] Assembly was straight forward and easy (secnod person needed to lift heavy head onto column). Run out is minimal (0.003). Action is smooth. Light location is behind work and does not light work area well. I have not yet used the laser. Table can be tilted left or right, but not for or aft.
Excellent tool for the money

Nice drill press, overall great drill press for the money. Well machined and easy to assemble. As all Jet tools, the fit and finish is excellent. The only two things i would change are:
- Change the depth stop knurled nuts to quick change types like Delta uses.
- Design the Laser/Quill attachment so the lasers don't have to be removed to use a Mortising attachment.

This is may first free standing drill press replacing a bench top model. What a difference; smooth runing, quite, powerfull, easy speed change. I would give it five stars if the depth stop was easier to use.
After assembly I discovered that only one laser was working. After switching leads arround and the problem not moving I determined that it was a bad laser.
A phone call to Jet solved the problem. I explaned the problem to the customer service rep; he agreeded and said he would send out not one but two laser. I thought that I would receive the laser heads which I would have to install. No, I received two complete laser assemblies all I had to do was slip it on and plug in the leads. Great service.
