Comments about Maple & Cherry Sleigh Bed - Paper Plan :
This was my 1st bed and 1st furniture progect. My father-in-law and I built the bed for my daughter. I would suggest reading through the plan a couple of times so can do a mental dry run before you cut lumber; you know Proper preperation and all. It would have been great if the authors put in a bit like "@ $3.50/bf for 1common cherry and maple this project will cost $400 in materials. All in all a novice can make this bed as advertised. If you don't have alot of tools find a buddy who does.

I bought this plan thinking that it would be an easy build I could finish in a couple afternoons after work. There are a few major problems with these plans. First, they give you half of the templates you need and expect you to find a copy center to make the other half. Second, they show you the techniques of how to build it, but it is poorly organized. It should start with a layout of all the pieces you are making and what the wood needs to be ripped down too. Also, it should tell you the piece you are building, show you the finished product and then how to do it. Lastly, it does not tell you all the tools you are going to need on the site. After I bought this plan I found out I needed a band saw, a 12" table saw, an orbital sander and a biscuit joiner. (The only real problem was the 12" table saw and biscuit joiner, I had the rest.) All and all, I love the way it turned out but hate how much extra work I needed to do to get there.
