Some of the electronic parts on the circuit board can protrude through the acrylic when turned to the pen diameter. Fortunately they sand down and polish well enough not to be too noticeable.

Let's start with saying that the end product, if you are sucessful, is outstanding. Great visual interest in the design of the circuit board. Perfect for the IT person in your life. But, turning was a bit of a challenge. Using very sharp tools and light pressure I still experience alot of "chipout" and cracking of the material. I ended up putting down the tools and switched to sand paper to shape this blank. After that, no problems with getting a superior gloss polish!!

The ink refills could be of better quality a lot of skipping occurs with the pen kits. I prefer to replace the ink with a proper "Parker" refill if I have a good client. I feel the better the quality the better chances of aquiring more customers that are very happy for paying for a custom made pen.

This is an excellent pen. I have made many and my customers love it. The acrylic is a little sensitive and prone to cracking but if you take your time on the lathe you get a very nice high quality pen.
