Product Information:

The Tilt Box is a digital inclinometer that will read relative angles to an accuracy of +/- 0.1 degrees. Turn it on, place it on your saw table and press the “Zero” button once to establish relative zero. Attach the Tilt Box to your blade using the rare earth magnets on its sides and it will register the relative angle between the blade and the table via a large, easy to read display. As a bonus, if you press the “Zero” button again, the Tilt Box will also measure absolute zero and this means that you can also utilize it as a portable pocket level. The Tilt Box is powered by a 9 volt battery. Includes battery and detailed instructions.

  • Accurate +/- .01 degree
  • 9 volt battery included

Comments about Beall Tilt Box Digital Angle Gauge :

I am a toolmaker in the aerospace industry, so I know angles and how to measure them. I purchased the TiltBox for home carpentry work. My machining background makes me tough to please in the area of measuring tools. I brought it to work with me to test its accuracy on a jigborer tilting rotary table.First, I set the machine table to a specific angle, then read the angle reported by the TiltBox.Machine setting (deg) --- TiltBox Reading(deg)10.00 --- 10.25 15.00 --- 15.1522.50 --- 22.7530.00 --- 30.2033.86 --- 34.1045.00 --- 45.2090.00 --- 89.95Then I used the TiltBox to set the angle, and compared the angle to the true angle on the machine:TiltBox setting --- Machine reading15.00 deg --- 14 deg 46 min22.50 deg --- 22 deg 15 min30.00 deg --- 29 deg 44 min45.00 deg --- 44 deg 43 min60.00 deg --- 59 deg 43 min 90.00 deg --- 89 deg 44 minSo in conclusion, I determined the readings to be off by about .25 degree, just just slightly more than the .2 advertized. While that is a lot in the precision machining field, it is barely noticable in woodworking. Definitely acceptable in a tool for under $50 in my opinion.I found the results to repeat, adding to my confidence in the tool. The tool seemed to take only about 5 seconds or so to settle and at that point the display did not flutter.

Comments about Beall Tilt Box Digital Angle Gauge :

This is a wonderful gadget. It has set-up uses beyond woodworking machinery. Any place a relative vertical angle needs to be set or measured is fair game. For that matter, you can also precisely measure how far something is out of plumb. It measures roll or pitch, but not yaw. I have used it to set the tilt stops on my table-saw and radial-arm-saw; as well as to measure and adjust squareness of fences and home made jigs. I see no reason why I could not also set the stops on my circular-saw, check squareness of my drill press, or investigate the flatness of anything larger than the angle gauge's base. Setting up the band-saw might be take a little finesse' the magnets on the side of the gauge are very strong. If the blade is insubstantial or loosely tensioned the gauge is heavy enough to distort. There is a short warm-up period. But, once stable, measurements are quite repeatable. This is remarkable given that the specification is accuracy to 0.1 degree while the display is precise to 0.01 degree. I like the use of an easily procured standard 9 VDC battery. It should have a long battery life. The fact that while factory calibrated, there is provision for field calibration speaks to good design and expected long life. The small downside in this tool, is that while you may be thinking 90 degrees, the meter say 0 degrees. That is the base of the gauge is parallel to the horizontal (0 degrees) while the sides (with the magnets) of the gauge are vertical (90 degrees). The read-out is the change from perpendicular. The gauge does not read your mind. Overall, this angle gauge provides good value for money. It's a well made, multipurpose, easy to use tool. I cannot judge or test mean-time-to-failure, but I have no fear in this regard.

Comments about Beall Tilt Box Digital Angle Gauge :

This made and makes checking my blade angles (miter, table, band and Festool) so easy. I have been using it for project work too - just put it on flat board or long bubble level and you are in business.
