Woodpeckers Model 420 V2 Router Lift for PC7518 Motor
I have owned this lift for about 3 years and it never fails to delivery. easy to use and set up. One of my best investments. Can't say enough good about it. Use it for my 3 1/4 hp Porter cable router and love it.

money well spent
Just a weekend warrior but wanted something nice. I was always told u get what u pay for! I bought the best and its american made.
Excellent quality; but gear backlash
Navy Silver Eagle
This router lift is a SOLID PERFORMER. I've had it in my shop for over a year.
.... The design is well-considered and robust, the machining, workmanship, and fit-&-finish are all excellent right down to the surface finish and edges of of all pieces. Really impressive, first-rate work; and I say that having significant experience with industrial and machining trades.
.... Installation of my Porter-Cable 7518 3-1/4 HP router motor was easy and it fit very well, though it would be nice to have had some torque specs for the four setscrews used to tighten the clamp assembly onto the motor. The motor body is held quite firmly with nominal pressure. Just be careful not to overtighten.
.... In use, height adjustments are quick & easy and the fine-adjustment using the thumbwheel works very well to "dial-in" the cut. The rotating dial that indicates height change as you use the thumbwheel works very well. The quick-lift feature with the spring-loaded handle is a real time-saver.
.... The lift comes with three red-anodized aluminum inserts that fit around the bits: two with large (2 5/8"), & small (1") openings for the router bit you have installed and one set up for using standard collets. They lock in well with a left-hand bayonet-lock (intelligently tightens with the direction of router-bit rotation) and they are level with the rest of the top surface. The spanner wrench for the inserts is nothing more than a piece of bent steel rod, but it works well.
.... For $40, you can get a set of eight additional inserts of various bit-clearance diameters, but instead of aluminum, they are all "ABS reinforced with polycarbonate" (and for plastic, they are overpriced IMO). Bought them anyway. I use the one without a hole in it to cover the router motor when not in use to keep debris from falling into it and use the others as appropriate for the bit I am using. When I originally bought the lift, I recall seeing a set of aluminum inserts, but they were about twice the price of the plastic ones. I don't think they are made anymore.
.... I also have the Freehand Bit Guard purchased separately and that is also well-designed for what it does, but it would have been nice for the wear points to be metal instead of laminated birch. I used thin CA glue to soak into the wood at those wear points to harden it up and that has worked well. Chips and dust are well-contained with a vacuum attached to it.
.... Levelling the top plate to your table is accomplished with eight setscrews. They are stiff to turn in their threaded holes, but that also keeps them from vibrating out-of-position once you have the plate level with your table top.
.... My only negative comment: For the lift, I would prefer to have less BACKLASH in the fine-adjustment gears, but it is not what I would call excessive for woodworking applications. (i.e.: when raising using the the adjustment thumbwheel, there is some free-play when changing to lowering the router assembly & vice-versa, but it is not bad) I would have given 5-stars if not for the backlash, but I can be picky.
.... There is a new variation model now that provides fine-adjustment from a hand crank mounted to the side of your table instead of the thumbwheel, but I have no experience with it. My intuition is that the mechanism used to connect the handle to the lift mechanism would introduce more backlash, but I may be wrong.
.... Settings are maintained with use: there is no wandering or drift from the position you raise the router to after running the router (by habit, I always go to the final height in the "raise" direction).
.... Bottom Line: I would unhesitatingly buy this lift again; YOU WILL BE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS LIFT!
A Lift you won't ever replace
I was happy to find that it slipped into my router table with no modification. With all the leveling points, made for a leveling easy. I used it for the first time this weekend. and I was delighted that I don't have to take my router out of the table every time I have to change bits, and height adjustment are a breeze now. I have been looking for a lift for a couple of years and none had ever fit my list of requirements. This one meets all of them.
Very nice design
This router lift is a huge improvement over my old router table insert. I love the fact that with a PC 7518 the router can be raised to almost the top of the lift. Makes for very easy bit changes. I also love the fact that there is no cranking to move the router up and down. Gross router settings are made with the supplied spring assist tool. After you get the router to the approximate level it is very easy to then make minor adjustments with the thumb wheel.
Overall, this is a great product. I've only had the lift for a couple of weeks, so I'm interested in seeing how it will hold up over time. So far no CONS have been found.
