Comments about Complete Mortising Attachment Kit :

On a limited budget this morising attachment works great. I am sure a dedicated mortiser could do a better job, but for my purposes it works great. Setup was easy and with little practice I was making perfect mortises.. I would suggest a new backer board with each new setup to avoid splintering the wood upon breakout.. It is important to enter the wood on the face that will be seen. In that way any breakout will be covered by the joint on the back side.

Comments about Complete Mortising Attachment Kit :

I was close to buying a dedicated mortiser, however I chose this product knowing I have less money, a square and patience. I used this on my Delta 17-968, no shims needed. After setting up and assuring all relevant points were square, I performed my test cuts. These were spot on to the markings and reproduced for my real cuts. The hold downs worked great and had to be loosened to allow my piece to move. The convenience of my set up was the use of a variable speed drill (~1000 rpm, 3/8" bit). One negative was I had to use additional washers to bolt the fence down since the underside of my drill table had ridges that the provided nuts did not fit into, an easy fix. Great product for the money!

Comments about Complete Mortising Attachment Kit :

If you don't have room for a dedicated mortising jig, then this will work just fine. The fence is limited to smaller projects. If larger projects are to be intended, a different fence will need to be made to use more effectively. I used this with a Delta drill press.

The attachment works great on my drill press. I just wish it fit the press more snuggly. The yolk has a tendancy to turn slightly when being used.

I tried to attach this unit to a Delta 11-990 Drill Press which it is supposed to fit. It doesn't. The quill is 2-1/16', the kit doesn't have a split ring this size
