Product Information:

The 24" Omnijig features an adjustable finger template, which enables you to cut variable-space half-blind and through dovetails. In addition, fix-spaced and half-blind dovetails can be cut with a single pass of the router. Includes a wrench, a screwdriver, a straight bit, a dovetail bit, a bit depth gauge, 7 template guides, a 24" variable finger template and left and right template stops.

With other dovetail jigs, set-up requires you to work through a trial and error, dry fitting process prior to cutting dovetails. These professional quality dovetail jigs take the guesswork out of dovetail joinery and are fully assembled from the factory. Factory preset stops for templates and the innovative router bit depth gauge (pod) eliminates this awkward and annoying step.

In addition to a fast initial set up, the "stop and depth gauge" system allow you to come back and repeat cuts quickly, and with dead on accuracy. Additional enhancements:
  • Router stabilizer bar to prevent router tipping
  • Textured work surfaces to prevent material movement
  • On-board instructions and color coded dovetail "recipe" card truly simplify the use of this jig
  • Each system includes an instructional DVD featuring Norm Abram and comes with a 3 year limited warranty

    Warranty Information
    PORTER-CABLE CORPORATION warrants to the original purchaser that all products covered under this warranty are free from defects in material and workmanship. Products covered under this warranty include air compressors, air tools, service parts, pressure washers, and generators, which have the following warranty periods:
    • 3 YEARS - Limited warranty on 2-stage oil-free air compressor pumps that operate at 1725 RPM.
    • 2 YEARS - Limited warranty on oil-lubricated air compressor pumps.
    • 1 YEAR - Limited warranty on all other air compressor components.
    • 2 YEARS - Limited warranty on electric generator alternators.
    • 1 YEAR - Limited warranty on other generator components.
    • 2 YEARS - Limited warranty on pneumatic air tools.
    • 1 YEAR - Limited warranty on pressure washers used in consumer applications (i.e. personal residential household usage only).
    • 90 DAY - Pressure washers used for commercial applications (income producing) and service parts.

    Porter-Cable will repair or replace, at Porter-Cable's option, products or components which have failed within the warranty period.     I purched a 24" 77240 omnijig and I think it is the best dovetail jig manufactured to date...But! Porter-Cable for some reason has discontinued it! I have had a hard time finding all the accessaries. The only reason I am keeping it is because I was able to round up all of the accessaries. I will be the only person useing this jig and feel it will serve me well. If you deside to buy one make sure you can get the parts you will need. I feel I will be happy with the omnijig, it's a wonderful machine, I would recommend it to a friend with a warning.

    I bought my Omni Jig in Feb. 2011. The first time I tried to use it I noticed that the router was hanging up on the fingers as it was slid along the finger bar cutting pins or tails. (I had the fingers spread out across the 24 inch bar getting ready to put dove tails in chest sides.) I got out a straight edge and checked the fingers for level and they were off quite a bit. Also I noticed that the Router Support bar was level with the pins side of the finger bar and not the tails side. I went back to my local Woodcraft store to tell them about it. I demonstrated the problem on the display model they had and it was worse than mine. The manager told me to bring mine back and they would exchange it. Next week I brought it back and had similar problems when I got it home. I then took it to the Seattle service Center for Porter Cable. The technicians there agreed that there was a problem with mine and ordered a new finger bar. It was better but still didn't line up with the Router Support bar. They ordered another complete unit and it was bad also. I gave up, took the unit back and got a refund. All together between me (2), Woodcraft store (2), and the one the service center ordered there were 5 bad units. I've got the Leigh D4R now. It works, has it's own little bugaboos but usable. I really think that if P.C. can get the alignment issue taken care of the Omni Jig would be a great tool. It is easy to use and I made a "good enough" through dovetail joint on the first try. Bottom line... Don't buy one mail order! Spread the fingers out across the bar and check for level. Take a 6" steel rule, stand it on edge and slide it back and forth across the fingers pins and tails. If it doesn't hang up, check that the router support bar is level with the fingers again pins and tails. If all is level buy it. I think you won't be sorry.

    Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    This jig creates perfect dovetails every time - once you get it setup correctly for your wood. Do do through dovetails you really need two routers, one setup for the pins and one for the tails. Once I got my second router, I was able to knock out a set of draws in no time. I've also bought the optional sliding dovetail jig - and it worked perfectly out of the box. I created five shelves in about 30 minutes. Read the manual carefully - laying out the project before you start cutting is a big MUST. You should also cut extra pieces so that you have the exact wood thickness to do your setup on.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Set up was easy and the manual was very helpful, through dovetails were no problem. Went to do some half blind dovetails and no way would they fit. After going over the jig with a fine tooth comb found that the end of the finger plate was not fitted together properly. Porter Cable sent me a new finger plate, it was better but still needed work to get rid of the step and seat the fingerplate end to get a proper fitting half blind dovetail.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    watch the dvd and study the manual carefully, both are very detailed. once you figure out how it works it is a wonderful jig, easy to use and the end results are the best i have ever seen from a dovetail jig. you may have to tweak the factory settings, mine was perfect out of the box, but the manual covers how to make any minor adjustments that might be required.
