Decent Basic Vise
7" Groz Front Vise Hardware
I bought this vise several years ago for my portable woodworking bench. While I agree with some of the sentiments of the other reviewers, I think it has performed well for the price I paid for it. I use an adjustable wedge on the opposite side of my work piece to counteract racking. I didn't expect a vise at this price to not rack, but am looking forward to an upgrade.
When using a wedge though, the vise has plenty of clamping power. Like another reviewer mentioned, the pin broke pretty quickly that holds the "T" connecting the wood handle to the threaded rod. I replaced this with a small stainless bolt and have had no problems with anything else in the past 5 years.
If you have the money, consider a higher end vise but if not, I think this vise can serve as a good introductory vise. I will be replacing it with a twin screw design for my front vise, but will likely keep this to add a small tail vise to my bench.

Sould have read the reviews before hand
This is a very poor product. No instructions, no template to use for building the jaws. The ends of the wooden handle are attached with 1/2 inch brass plated screws that don't stay on. It racks like no vise I have ever used.

Bought vise shortly before I moved. About 1 year later I got around to finishing my work bench. I would have followed the instructions if they would have been included. After installing the spacer and the housing, I inserted the screw with the guide rods and gave it a test turn - the head snapped off the shaft. I would like to think it was my awesome strength, but alas it was just a poorly made vise. On the up side, in my .3 seconds of use - I had no problems with racking.
How fast can it sink?
Difficult to install, a hollow flimsy handle, and the racking, My God the racking.....
I will preface this review buy saying this is the first front vise I have bought, and perhaps mine was defective....however, having said that....after many hours of preparing nice, solid hardware jaw inserts and meticulous installation, I have found that the vise racks so much as to be almost useless. Perhaps overkill, but I am now considering the veritas twin screw.....you get what you pay for usually!
