Comments about Tormek T-7 Hand Tool Kit :
I have struggled with sharpening for a long time. Though I can get good results on my planes and chisels, it has never been enough to truly realize the potential of my growing hand tool collection. Since I had spent the price of this Tormek or more on stones, grinders, jigs, granite plates and lower cost sharpening systems, I bit the bullet and took a chance. Day one I have the sharpest chisels and planes I have ever experienced. It has allowed me to do things I used to struggle with. Unlike many, I don't want to spend time sharpening and learning the fine points of the craft. I don't care about it - I just want sharp tools. I decided to go all out and add the set for knives, scissors... thinking in some weak way it would justify the price to sharpen things for the whole house. So, is this for everyone? Certainly not. The price is, I think, absurd. I am almost embarrassed that I bought this. However, like Festool and Lie Nieslen, there is a level of quality and design associated with the outlier high price, but I think Tormek is being a bit greedy here. I think they could provide a complete chisel and plane solution with their smaller model at a lower price point, but since it lacks essential jigs and tools, it ends up being less cost effective than buying the big brother. That's unfortunate. Still, if you can afford it, it is worth it in the end, but it does hurt.
