Product Information:

Sometimes the old ways are the best ways. Premium oil finishes from 19th century recipes that are 100% solids and solvent free. This unique finish is even safe for cutting boards, toys, and children's furniture. It complies with the FDA regulations (FDA 21 Sec. 175.300) as "safe for food contact surfaces". We've tried this in our shop and are very impressed with both the ease of application and quality of finish.

Original Wood Finish is a highly polymerized linseed oil, combined with Beeswax. It dries to a fine finish reminiscent of the patina of well cared for antique furniture, yet it is durable and easy to use. It is commonly used on doors and windows, paneling and furniture. It may be used to revive any existing finish.

  • This product is 100% solids and has no solvents or heavy metal driers
  • A true general purpose wood finish
  • The finish will shine without appearing glossy
  • Excellent coating for all interior woodwork
  • Gets harder and more durable as it ages

Comments about Original Wood Finish, Pint :

Since I don't see a review, I'll leave a comment. I found this to be a very nice product. I usually finish with linseed oil, including their product. I usually wax the finished piece after the oil sets. I tried this on a lark, and it gives a very nice result- either as the only finish, or as the last coat in a normal oil finish. The instructions, the website, the sticker on the top of the can all say VERY THIN COATS! OK, says I. It has a peculiar consistency since the wax is not completely dissolved in the oil. (shop temperature 70 F) I applied a barely wet coat with a stiff stippling brush, very much like paste wax- wiping after about an hour (big piece). It gives good coverage with very little waste. The finish sets to a waxy finish which buffs up to a smooth final result with very little work. I am very happy with it after two sizable pieces.

Comments about Original Wood Finish, Pint :

I used this product on a project made of West African Rosewood, (bubinga) and it looked fantastic. I followed the simple directions on the label and applied 2 coats. Very easy to use and the results were great.
