Comments about Backing Pad, 5" Black & Decker, DeWalt :
My 6 in pad disintegrated after 10 years so I went to get a replacement. This was the ONLY pad in the store that fit the 6 inch Porter Cable random orbit sander. Figured for the price it might be worth it and wanted to get the project done. Seems like a good idea lots of holes in the pad and the VERY expensive sanding discs are grids like the you use for drywall. So the theory must be that dust goes thru the discs. Well that means there is is NOT enough fuzz on the back to keep the disc on the pad. Maybe if all your doing is a large flat area it would work fine. But I was just trying to remove the old finish from a multiple angled piece of furniture. Make contact with an uneven surface with the edge and OFF flies the disc.
