Comments about Dust Hood With Stand :

I use this when sanding to reduce the cloud of dust that results. A powerful dust collector is needed or it will not be that effective. (I use a 3 horsepower cyclone system and it works fairly well.) I also have a HEPA filter on the dust collector so the dust is properly screened out.

Comments about Dust Hood With Stand :

The only problem is that the diameter of the outlet is slightly too large to support 4" quick disconnects, including the one that Woodcraft itself sells.

I use the Dust Hood with my mini lathe when sanding my turned tops. It has made a huge difference in the dust level in my small shop. It fits perfectly on the back side of the lathe and catches 98% of the sanding dust.

This unit collects about 50% of saw dust from a radial armsaw. The construction is inprecise. Longing for US Made products.

Bought for use with lathe. Still trying to find a location that catches most of the shavings. Made well, stays were you put it. 4" quick disconnect fittings don't quite fit.

    • With a chop saw

Comments about Dust Hood With Stand :

I bought this to catch sawdust from my tilting, slide chop saw. Other commercial collection devices were too big or cheap-looking. This seemed just right, and it is. It's heavy enough to stay put, it's not top heavy and not prone to tipping over, and the mouth of the collection cone is about the right size for the sawdust spray that comes from my saw. It is built to high quality standards, something I've come to expect from Woodcraft. The angle adjustment for the hood has an indexed ring so the cone will stay at the angle you set it at and it won't slip "head down" or "head up" during use. The ONLY aspect which I was disappointed with as others seem to have noted was the 4" pipe at the end where dust collectors would attach. The tube is made of steel and is painted. The "matching" fittings for connect dust collectors that are available in most home or tool stores are ABS and of a size where fitting the two together is almost impossible. My suggestion is to either have Woodcraft make a slightly larger diameter tube for its stand or for the buyer to create a way to keep that tube and the vacuum hose connected without falling off on its own. Other than that, I am very glad I bought it.

Comments about Dust Hood With Stand :

I use it with a wood turning lathe. It might catch some of the fine dust but certainly not all. It needs a "big" vacuum to be efficient. My vacuum is a 6.5 hp shop-vac and it is not enough for the large open mouth of the hood.

Comments about Dust Hood With Stand :

I purchased two separate attachments so I could attach my shop vac hose and nothing was the correct size. I had to increase the ID of the last plastic piece I was sent on my lathe so it would fit the 4" hose attachment on the rear of the unit. Not real happy about this.
