Product Information:

Combines the reliability and strength of 2-part epoxy wood repair materials in a single component. No measuring or stirring is necessary. Just pinch off a bit of the Quikwood “log” which contains both the filler and catalyst and knead it with your fingers. It’s now ready to fill nail holes, dents, rebuild carving mistakes, restore rotten wood voids, or reshape a decorative piece. For exterior or interior use. It can be sawed, drilled, carved, sanded, painted and will not shrink. Working time of 3-6 minutes, cure time of 30 minutes.

Will not shrink or pull away.

Cured hardness and density are similar to that of wood.

Putty-like consistency eliminates drips and runs for a "no mess" application.

No tools required for use.

One hour after application can be drilled, sawed, sanded, filed, tapped, machined and painted.

There are (now) several brands of "tube" putty, but Quickwood is still the best I've used in terms of texture and working qualities. It works easily and sets up quickly (though can be easily removed for a couple of hours) and has very low odor. Great for very thin fills, edge repairs, or re-creating ornamental details, either by sculpting or molding. Will pick up very fine detail in a good mold. Is self-adhesive, but can also be molded separately and glued (or "puttied) in place. Can be carved or sanded in minutes and painted in an hour or so. My only complaint is that I can't get it in bigger packages (esp. the darker colors, which only come in 1-oz tubes). The dark "mahogany" putty hardens much quicker than the neutral; not necessarily bad, but helpful to know ahead of time. It has a very long shelf-life (I accidentally kept some for over a year once), though eventually it stiffens up. I've received it already a little stiff (though still usable) from some vendors. The order I got from Woodcraft was very fresh. Chunk of wood missing, making glueing impossible. QuikWood not only fastened spindle strongly & quickly, it also allowed me to easily recreate the entire missing section. It's actually Harder than the wood itself, and once sanded & painted, others were amazed that it wasn't the original piece, including me. Other uses: large patches in 100-year-old plaster, strong enough to hold up heavy mirrors & iron curtain rods; reattachment of stair-balluster which had been repeatedly glued/nailed without success; reattachment of newel-post ball on same 100-year-old staircase; stabilizing quite broken Dining Room table... Like I said, my only wish is that I could purchase QuikWood in a tub, as I use it Very often.
