    The problem I have with this book is Mr. Bird contradicts himself on tensioning a bandsaw blade. On one page he says tension scales on bandsaws are inaccurate, on the next page he says "I don't recommend completely compressing the tension spring. You might get more tension but the spring is there to absorb minor vibration or slight bounces during cutting. The spring helps prevent the blade from breaking.", then on the facing page, as a caption to a photo of a bandsaw tension spring, he states "on small consumer-grade bandsaws, I tension a 1/2" blade for resawing by almost completely compressing the tension spring." Which is it? With the newer aggressive resawing blades out now the manufacturer of the blade instructs you to adjust the tension according to the bandsaw scale then back it off until the blade just flutters while the saw is running then retension until the fluttering goes away. These blades are easier on your bandsaw. I found it informative about my bandsaw, however, he seems to contradict himself on tensioning a blade. THere are better books on the market.
