I bought this press before I knew what to look for in a press. The screw lock system is a bad design. Bed is made out of aluminum and is to weak.

    Comments about Pen Press :

Do not waste your money buying this item. It is poorly made. The cheap soft metal will start to bend out of alignment within 20 uses, causing more problems than the [$] price tag is worth. You are better off buying a small arbor press for much less money.

    Comments about Pen Press :

The lever began to break, so I had to weld it to the jig. In general, it works and is my primary pen press because otherwise I have to use a vise, arbor press, or my lathe. So it is convenient to have, but honestly I don't expect it to last much longer. I've only had it for about 8 months. Also, both sides should have mar-free materials, not metal on one and plastic on the other. It leaves you with having to put something in place to prevent scratching or otherwise damaging your pen, pencil, letter opener, etc.

    Comments about Pen Press :

The threads that the black knob screw into stripped out after approximately 100 pens. I will have to redesign and modify if I wish to use any longer. The whole purpose of purchasing this unit was to alleviate the pain of using my vise to press pens.

    Comments about Pen Press :

Had problems with knob holding adjustable bar in place while pressing. Expected this as others noted same problem. I modified mine by removing knob and drilling several 1/4 holes in rod spaced 1/2 inch apart. I just move rod where needed and place a pin where knob was and into holes in rod. Works fantastic in my opinion.

    Comments about Pen Press :

I have made hundreds of pens and the first one I bought lasted almost 2 years when I first started making pens. The mechanism of it bent and was useless after that. The second one didn't last 6 months and it bent the same way. Great idea but the parts are not as strong as they should be for heavy use.
