Comments about Adjustable Drill Stops :

No product does everything, otherwise there would only be one tool in the box... duh. I use this with my doweling jig and predrilling for chair frame corner supports; works great. I'm sure there are hundreds of other uses, you just have to be able to visualize in what ways it can make your life easier. My only concern is that someday they might discontinue them and so I'm packing in some extra just in case.

    Bad Product

    By  Wayne

    from Fairfax, VA

    About Me Casual Do-It-Yourselfer

    Pros

    • Inexpensive
    • Lightweight
    • No tiny allen screw
    • Simple to use

    Cons

    • Doesn't work on all bits
    • Too thick limits usage

    Best Uses

    • Longer bits
    • Shallow holes

Comments about Adjustable Drill Stops :

Very easy to use product, however, they are very thick limiting its use to shallow holes or longer bits. Additionally, the combination does not work well with all bit widths. The plastic has a tentency to wear out quick, more so with frequent use or over tighting.

Comments about Adjustable Drill Stops :

These work fine--I tried to make them slip and couldn't unless I hauled down pretty hard on the drill press lever. The small one is good up to 1/4 inch. The large one will take a 1/4 inch bit but it screws down all the way before completely tightening. The only real negatives are that the opening in the large one isn't quite 1/2 inch--it takes a 31/64 bit fine but not a full 1/2 (at least the one that I got is that way)--and that on mine I had to clean up a little molding flash blocking the insert on the larger one--I thought I was going to have to drill through it but it popped right out. I got them specifically to use with the Veritas 32 cabinet making jig, which uses a bushing and a thick track--I was concerned that the thickness of these compared to the set-screw type drill stops would not leave enough shank exposed but in practice they leave plenty on all bit sizes that I use.

I have used different kinds of drill stops, and this is the winner! It stays wherever it is locked regardless of the position along the drill bit.
