I am a long time user of Tormek sharpening systems but trying to put long fingernail on a new gouge took a long time. Now I can put a new grind on a gouge in a hurry and then use the Tormek for the finishing touches. Should have purchased this jig a long time ago.

I sharpen my Bowl gouges and Spindle gouges with this jig. It allows repeatable precision when resharpening complex angle grinds like an Ellsworth or Irish grind. It is very simple to use. The addition of the Nylon Disc keeps the fastener from biting into your gouges like the old spring style would. The wing nut holds the leg well in place even when you drop it! I found my favorite angles and scribed the lines onto the body along the leg for each. This is so when I change gouges I can quickly reset the leg to the angle I need for that gouge. That's really the only improvement I could see for this jig is to come with angles scribed onto it already. I have used and don't care for the captive style of the same jig. I prefer this one because it allows for more freestyling. If you slip off the wheel when grinding then perhaps you might consider the captive style.

Puts the edge back on your bowl gouges like they should be. After trying to sharpen gouges by hand you will see the difference when you use this jig. I nearly forgot what the edge should look like except for the gouges I still have not used and there was no comparing the factory edge to my trial and error sharpening. This put the edge back on there like it was meant to be.

The jig makes it very easy to put a factory style edge on the chisels.

I received it about 2 weeks ago and have not been able to use it yet. Both of the stones are out of balance and one has a wobble in it. I have been waiting for the new grinding wheels to show up to see if they are any better. If the new grinding wheels are Ok, then it looks like it will work great.

The included written instructions for this jig were on target and easy to use. it works so well, i will be ordering a second one to reduce setup time when switching from one chisel to another.
