Great for quick center finding. Very easy and fast to use. The tape is divided in two sections, upper & lower. Measure as normal from the top portion of tape, then locate that measurement on the bottom section & mark piece. It automatically finds center on the bottom portion of tape, very fast & simple. The issue is the bottom portion only breaks down to 1/8th's, no 1/16th of inch. Otherwise very handy

I am a serious non-professional, I use this tape tape measure almost exclusively. It has taken the errors out when doing division of fractions. You can still use it as a standard tape measure. For small work I use the 12" center ruler, it too has its benefits. I do allot of projects of my own design, with that said sometimes as you are building situations come into play where everything is not on a 1" center. This ruler saves gray matter
