The cut out for this hinge takes a lot of work to get installed. One one hindge the flap fell off because the rivits a very poorly installed.

Made in China! If that isn't enough to keep you from buying these hinges, let me give you my sad tale. First, they look great just out of the package; Nice and beefy. Unfortunately, the two halves of the hinge are out-of-square with each other in the 90 degree position. The end result is that it is impossible to get the two pieces of wood parallel at 90 degrees. Perhaps this will make things a bit more clear. I was making a keyboard tray for a desk. I butted the two pieces of wood (drawer bottom and drawer face) together in what you can picture as the fully open position (drawer face down flush with the bottom). The hinges were cut into each piece and screwed in place (not a quick process). I say again, the hinges were installed perfectly parallel to the drawer bottom and face, and the two pieces of wood were flush and tightly butted together. Each board had a slight chamfer where they meet to allow movement. So far so good. But when I raised the face to the 90 degree (drawer closed position) the 21" wide face was almost a quarter of an inch lower on the left side than on the right (looking at it straight on). I first thought that I had installed the face somehow on a slight angle, but no, the hinges were still 90 degrees along their outside edges. So I took the drawer to a local high-end custom cabinet shop and the owner showed me how the hinge itself is manufactured poorly. When you place a machine square along the outer edge of one half of the hinge while it is open at 90 degrees, it is clear that the other half of the hinge is almost a sixteenth of an inch out-of-square. To be sure. I cut another sample using a single hinge and got the same results. Perhaps I got a bad pair, but I rather think that they are all like this. I also think MOST of the butler tray hinges being sold by everyone are likely from China. I am looking for a hinge made in the USA or England. I wasted HOURS trying to figure this out; Perhaps this warning will save you the pain.

I order a quantity of 2 and received 2 pairs of hinges, beside the quantity should state for one hinge or 1 pair. We will hang on to the 2nd set as these fit the roll top desk so well. Could of used new screws to match as ours were polished, but hinge doesn't show from the outside. Great product.
