    An Extremely Flexible Jig

    Pros

    • Very flexible design

    Cons

    • Poor documentation
    • Requires careful setup

Comments about Universal Gouge Jig :

The jig works extremely well and as described but requires some mental gyrations to intially setup (several degrees of freedom). Documentation is pretty poor, but for out of the box operation, the tried and true technique of marking the bevel with an indelible marker works well. The TTS-100 (turning tool setter) is a valuable adjunct for rapid use of the jig in more production settings. In general, a very nicely made and useful tool.

Comments about Universal Gouge Jig :

I tried to shape and sharpen gouges on a dry grinder and on my Tormek by hand. I never could get any consistency and it took awhile. The Universal Gouge Jig for the Tormek is very easy to set up with the proper tools and easy to achieve consistent sharp edges.
