Developed by renowned restorer and finisher Jeff Jewitt, the TransTint line of dyes is more versatile than any we’ve ever seen! TransTint dyes, like this lemon yellow, can be mixed with water for an economical, nonflammable stain or with alcohol for a fast drying, non-grain raising stain. For use as a toner or “shader,” dyes can be added directly to water-based finishes and solvents to create a perfect match for touch-ups or a unique, customized finish. A 2 oz. bottle yields about 2 quarts of dye-stain. Can even be added to: shellac, catalyzed lacquer and varnish, water-based lacquer and polyurethane, and most oil-based finishes. Not for exterior use.

    Comments about Lemon Yellow - TransTint Dyes :

    Used Lemon Yellow on a snare drum project. Mix color as you like with hot water per instructions. I don't prewet raw wood to raise grain; I just apply stain, let dry, sand lightly, reapply stain. Nice deep color. Found blue paper shop towels work well to apply. When dry, stained wood looks flat and lifeless--don't worry: finish will bring wood to life! This stuff is a fine powder, that stains everything, use gloves and drop cloth. Be careful of any spillage or spouse will go nuts with color tracked through house!!
