Comments about #6-32 Brass Threaded Inserts (10) :
Like another reviewer, I had a bit of trouble with the tops of these things sheering off during installation with a screwdriver. My experience was with walnut drilled with the specified 1/4" pilot hole. They hold quite firmly when successfully installed, but if one breaks it can be tricky to remove, especially if you get it most of the way in before the failure. I'd recommend getting the t-wrench if you're going to install a lot of them. Otherwise you could drive them with a screw of no more than 3/8" (the length of the insert) and which also matches the internal thread size of the insert.
