I've built 31 keepsake boxes for graduates of US Naval, Military and Coast Guard Academies out of solid cherry and these hinges. I wanted high quality solid brass hinges to really make the boxes heirloom's for the young officers. I attempted the quadrant hinge and found it not the quality I wanted, and difficult to install to boot. These brass hinges are just what I wanted for a high end gift. The new officers and their parents have been thrilled with the quality. I experienced no difference in the opening angle in any of the 31 pairs. Only caution is that the instructions are skimpy. If you cut the groove to the length dimension shown, you need to champher the back edges of the lid and body back side so the lid can open in line with the hinge pin. Also need to route a slightly deeper clearance for the hinge pivoting back edge. I will be making a minimum of 6 more boxes that I can count in my head, for young men and women upcoming new US military officers. I will be ordering these hinges for their boxes.

Expensive, but if you are making a high quality music box, jewelry box, etc. well worth it.

Although the finish is nice, the manufacturing quality is poor, . The hinges are 95 degree stop hinges. I bought a pair and they did not stop equally. There was about 5 degrees difference in the two, poor quality control. I choose to file one to correct the problem instead of the pain of returning for replacement.
