Product Information:

Brusso Precision Small Box Hinges feature rectangular knuckles which stop the lid in a vertical position so it won't drop back. Hinge pins are precision ground tool steel, with pin boxes that are first drilled, then reamed, for smooth fit and operation. Use in boxes of all types and small doors where the opening angle won't exceed 100 degrees. This hinge fits a minimum stock thickness of 5/16". Large hinge (Woodcraft #145287) fits a minimum of 7/16". Leaf thickness of both is 3/32". Sold in pairs, screws included.

Pre-drilling is recomended: For #2 screws use a 1/16" straight pilot drill or 3/32" for a tapered pilot drill.

    Great hinges, that look superb. The only issue is the screws that come with are bogus. You would think they would come with better screws given their overall quality. Ive snapped a few on hardwood, so definately drill and tap first or drop few extra $$ on quality screws. Other than that perfect

    I have used the Brusso hinges both small and large for boxes. Having installed several sets I have learned the proper installation techniques. The hinge mortises must be exact or they will bind and shift the lid. I have had many comments from customers that they love the 95deg. opening. The hinges are extremely strong with no play, yet the screws provided are extremely weak. In hard woods it is best to drill holes to the size of the full diam. of the screw then add super glue gel to strengthen the bond... or buy brass coated steel screws.

    Recently attended a jewelry box-making class taught by the legendary Frank Klausz. These are the hinges he recommended and used in making his own jewelry box. Although the hinges are pricey, they reflect exquisite German engineering and finish, and are well worth the investment.

    They are solid looking hinges, as they are about 1/8 inch thick on each flange. I use them on decorative boxes by routing an inlet for them on the sides and lid. The 95 degree stop is particulary useful, as it holds the box lid in a open position, and doesn't allow the lid to touch the sides, and possibly cause finish damage
