Comments about Screw Extractor, 3/8" :
The item is only 2" long and the length is quickly consumed by properly setting it in a chuck. This item would undoubtedly work wonders utilized as shown in the picture. I unfortunately had a deep recessed screw to remove. Heading the warnings about heat and burning the wood, I took my time and slowly drilled in and stopping for all parts to cool. It was at the last part where I hit a knot and the extractor just simply broke. The metal it is made out of is brittle - I only assume they did not heat temper it for strength. Now I had a screw and a extractor stuck in the wood. I would recommend this to a friend - with a very big WARNING.
Useful but needs care

Comes with detailed instructions about how not to squash it in a drill chuck. But better solution would be a separate insertable solid metal core (not necessarily steel, could be light alloy). (Of course I made up my own with an old bolt of matching size.)
