Comments about Hitachi and Porter Cable Zero Clearance Insert HT-1 :

Although this insert looks good, it is not really a good fit for the Porter Cable saw - pre-cut kerf area is not in the right place, and the height set screw holes aligned poorly. More importantly, it is trivially easy to split or chip the surface of the insert during the sawing-in process, leaving you with an essentially worthless insert. Takes about a half an hour to make your own out of 5/8" melamine surfaced MDF, and you'll get better results, and earn about $50/hour. I bought this to compare with my home-mades. Lesson learned.

Installs easily per instructions. It's a great improvement over my home made aluminium version and the rather large one supplied by Hitachi.

Comments about Hitachi and Porter Cable Zero Clearance Insert HT-1 :

Finally found this product. This is a well manufactured insert..Routed out for all the lips and ledges on the saw. It has 2 outfeed end tabs versus 1 on the original insert which secures it much better. The insert comes with an instruction sheet which is well written and easy to follow. The fit is good, however I have to agree with others, there is a tad bit of lateral slop which could be rectified with a couple of small set screws on the side of the insert, similar to the locking screw.(May try this on mine) Overall...a great product...Since they were difficult to find, I bought 2.

Comments about Hitachi and Porter Cable Zero Clearance Insert HT-1 :

Insert fit the opening perfectly on my Hitachi table saw. However, in trying to level the insert with the table, tightening the retainer screw on the front threw everything off kilter. I corrected by shimming the rear two clips on the insert to keep the front screw from raising the rear of the insert.

This is outstanding. Perfect fit. The only down side is that after going to 2 different Woodcraft stores, I still had to order it online. You would think they would even stock just one.
