Product Information:

Developed by renowned furniture restorer and finisher Jeff Jewitt, these TransFast water-soluble powder dyes outperform any we have tried. Because the dyes contain no fillers or extenders, each 1 oz. bottle makes a half gallon or more of stain, nearly twice as much as most other dyes! Packaged in resealable bottles, you can use only the amount of dye necessary for the project at hand and not have to worry about the remaining powder leaking out of a paper envelope or absorbing moisture like other powdered dyes. Perfect for new work, repairs, or restoration, these deep penetrating colors can be combined to create virtually any shade without hiding the natural features of the wood. Stained surfaces can be coated with almost any type of finish to bring out the color you’ve applied. These easy to use dyes come with the best mixing and application instructions we have seen. Do not store liquid dyes in metal containers. Use this Black accent color for decorative highlights, to create pure colored pieces, for tinting other TransFast dyes, or to match hues on furniture when repairing or restoring.

  • Water-soluble concentrated black dye in powder form
  • Mixed with water it is non-flammable, zero-voc and low odor
  • Very economical and safe to use
  • Can be to-coated with any finishing material
  • Indefinite shelf life as long as kept in a cool, dry area

Comments about HOMESTEAD TransFast Dye Powder, Accent Color, Black :

Apply with brush, rag or spray. If spray, must use booth with extraction or outside. Apply second coat to even up coverage and deepen result. Can buff off with "steel wool" (plastic scrubbers are best).

Comments about HOMESTEAD TransFast Dye Powder, Accent Color, Black :

If your using highly figured woods and don't want to muddy the grain this is the stuff; colors without hiding the grain and iridescence.I have not tried these on a large surface yet; may be a bit tricky to keep even. Make sure you wear gloves

Comments about HOMESTEAD TransFast Dye Powder, Accent Color, Black :

I absolutely hate finishing woodworking projects. Softwoods can be extremely difficult to stain. This dye made it easy to get deep rich color on pine and fir without loosing the grain. One container finished the outside of a 60 x 30 x 24 four door cabinet. I simply mixed as directed and then poured the dye into a hand spray bottle. One coat sprayed evenly and left to dry (no wiping, except to eliminate puddles). The spray bottle leaked and dyed my hand, so you may want to wear gloves. Worked for me.
