    I have been making walking sticks for about 15 years and took 1st Place in this year's State Fair so not a newbie. This was my first spokeshave and I have been very disappointed. Had it sharpened before shipping and honed it myself but could never adjust the blade to properly shave. It either bumps along with blade extended or doesn't shave ( just scrapes) with blade retracted. I've tried shaving at an angle, changed blade to angle, etc. without any success in getting this tool to work properly. I've used and honed drawing knives for years. I would not purchase this tool again.

    I bought this tool for the purpose it was made for, a spoke shave. What else can I say, it works fine for it's intended purpose. Not sure about it's ease of honing, with its curved blade, but it came sharp enough for my usage.
