Ground Hide Glue. Available in crystallized powder form and easily mixed with water. Hide glue should be heated in a double boiler or electric glue pot to a temperature of 130º-150º. This traditional glue is preferred by restoration cabinetmakers, and period furniture reproducers for its authenticity. Joints are not waterproof and can be steamed apart when necessary. Makes 1/2 to 1 quart depending on mix ratio, 1 lb. package.
