I build Kentucky Rifles as a hobbie, this file is a must have for shaping stocks. It's coarse enough to move the wood fast but the clean up is min. and it dosen't "bruise" the wood.

Since Auriou has temporarily suspended production of their hand-stitched rasps, these are the best thing on the market. I've had mine for about three years and have found it well-made and perfect for rasping down to a pattern line. I'm looking now at getting the #49 rasp. If you are serious about hand woodworking, I recommend this as a first pattern maker's rasp.

I use this rasp for making templates and for shaping cabinet parts. It's got a smooth motion with very little applied pressure, resulting in a great sense of control. A really good tool.

This tool adds a whole new dimension to the shaping process. It can be used aggressively to hog off excess or lightly to finalize the shape of a part or a template. It's a really good tool.
