Kreg Universal Bench 29-Inch 4-Piece Leg Set, Kreg #KBS1000
I'm aware that "guys" aren't expected to read assembly instructions. However, here are two helpful suggestions based on my recent assembly of a Kreg workbench, combining Kreg legs, Kreg rails and my own top. 1) The bolts and self-locking nuts that connect that legs to the rails are listed as 5/16 (no need to verify since they're shipped together as a kit). However, the wrench size needed to tighten these nuts is 12mm, not the inches size listed in the manual. 2) The rails are u-shaped channels. The holes to mount the top are in the "legs" parts of the u-channel. The U-channels are symmetrical, with holes at identical locations on both of the channel's legs. To avoid the necessity of holding the screwdriver at an angle when tightening the screws, I inserted a long-handled driver bit through the hole on the opposite leg of the channel to contact the screw head straight-on. The Kreg-supplied screws are square-drive (excellent choice). However, extra-length, square-drive bits aren't very common. Then I recalled, the Kreg pocket jig system includes a longer-length drive bit. It really made attaching the top much easier. Now to my point: Did the Kreg assembly instructions for the bench legs/rails suggest using the Kreg drive bit in the Kreg jig system? The long form of the answer is "no".
