Strong and True!
G.W. Cundiff Jr. Slate Calls
Bee Lick, Ky.
2" Diameter Aluminum Faceplate, 1" x 8 TPI
Although I am comparing this to a homemade faceplate, this thing is GREAT! I was a little leary at first about this faceplate being aluminum, I have had bad luck with aluminum parts being out-of-square or not being true, but that's not the case here. The machine I am using (Harbor Freight) has odd ball threads so I had to get an adaptor, but this faceplate is very true and STRONG! I turn turkey slate calls and strikers, the slate calls have holes in the back for sound amplification, so I added a 3"X1 1/2" round turned sacrificial wooden block with a 3/8" hole drilled dead center, placed a washer and 3/8"X3" bolt through the inside of the faceplate, placed on the lathe, center drill and bolt my blank to the faceplate and start turning. I have been very pleased with the faceplate. I would definitely buy another one, if this one ever broke, but I don't think it will.
