Works well w/swing away - move tailstock
nr. Ithaca, NY
20" Nova Bed Segment
I got tired of lifting the tailstock on my Nova lathe during bowl turning.
This plus the Bed Extension Swing-Away is expensive but certainly will save your back.
You can easily slide the tailstock out of the way after roughing the outside of a bowl.
Then easily slide the banjo out of the way during sanding and finishing of a bowl.
I did have to hone/lap the pieces to get the rails to the same height/width and remove burrs so the tailstock especially, and the banjo, would slide freely through the hinge onto the extension.
I don't know if I would go as far as the photo on the Nova web site of the NOVA Hybrid Half Stand Kit with two bed extensions and a large turning.

Order was filled just as expected. The extension was easy to mount and lined up perfectly.
Great solid extension
Great extension for my 16-24 Nova lathe - now I can turn up to 45 to 46 inches depending if using the nova chuck or just drive centers. Very easy to attach and align by myself. Very accurately milled when checked with machinists straightedge.
This attached to my lathe without any problem. You cannot tell there are two pieces joined. The tail stock moves flawlessly from piece to piece without any hangups! Just follow the directions and you will have no problems.
20in NovaBed Segment
very poor fit to segment that comes with the lathe. Requires extensive filing.
This extension matches up well with the main bed but did have to do some filing and sanding to get the tailstock to slide freely. All the extensions I have added on different lathes have been the same way so guess this is normal. Works well and makes it easy to move the tailstock out of the way when it is not needed and when turning longer work. Worth the money to me!
