Coloring blotchy woods
Transtint Dyes, Golden Brown
On blotch prone woods and most plywoods it's best to mix dyes with your topcoat. Sprayed out properly the results are exceptional. I use it with Target and ML Campbell waterborne (gloss) finishes 2-3 times a week.

Came out blotchy on Red Oak cabinet door
Nice color, easy to apply, but came out blotchy no matter what grit I sanded to or how I applied it. (Red Oak cabinet doors)
Tried it with alcohol, tried it with water.
Mixed it with a water based stain and minimized the blotchiness.
I have used several other Transtint dye colors before with no problems, so I will continue to use them.
