Original Wood Finish by Tried & True
Tried & True Original Wood Finish, Pint
I used this product on a vintage military rifle stock. It gave me the results I was looking for: a good protective finish without an unnatural, glossy look. Also, a little goes a long way.

Great for Restoration
Rob the Architect
I was initially apprehensive about this product because many of the reviews around the internet claimed it "doesn't dry," but I was looking for a traditional finish that would complement an early 19th century piece that had a hard varnish over the original oil. The trick with this finish, I think, is that it takes a lot of elbow grease. Follow the instructions carefully - don't apply very much, wipe off the excess after an hour or so, burnish it 24 hours later. The second step is very important - I let it sit too long, and it was twice as hard to rub off as the first two coats were. Really take your time on the polishing, but I think what works best is to generate a little heat to soften the wax. I don't think this finish is any more work than Formby's Tung Oil, but it's so much more beautiful: soft to the touch, it looks and smells natural, the kind of finish that makes people want to reach out and pet your furniture. Way less hard though - I'd hesitate before recommending it for a dining table.
Very nice stuff
Lattices in Wood
Since I don't see a review, I'll leave a comment. I found this to be a very nice product. I usually finish with linseed oil, including their product. I usually wax the finished piece after the oil sets.
I tried this on a lark, and it gives a very nice result- either as the only finish, or as the last coat in a normal oil finish.
The instructions, the website, the sticker on the top of the can all say VERY THIN COATS! OK, says I. It has a peculiar consistency since the wax is not completely dissolved in the oil. (shop temperature 70 F) I applied a barely wet coat with a stiff stippling brush, very much like paste wax- wiping after about an hour (big piece). It gives good coverage with very little waste.
The finish sets to a waxy finish which buffs up to a smooth final result with very little work.
I am very happy with it after two sizable pieces.
I used this product on a project made of West African Rosewood, (bubinga) and it looked fantastic. I followed the simple directions on the label and applied 2 coats. Very easy to use and the results were great.
