Comments about Wheel Dresser, Diamond Tip :

I spent the whole weekend setting up my new grinder. Then I used my new dressing tool, (the one recommended by the instructor in my lathe tool sharpening class) and in only one second it dug a deep groove in the grinding wheel. Wheel dressers should be perfectly flat. This one isn't.

    Uneven grading

Comments about Wheel Dresser, Diamond Tip :

The positive: the diamonds cut much faster than a carborundum dressing stone, so it's easy to make the white oxide wheels on my slow grinder round and straight across. The negative: The grit grading of the one I have is very uneven, with a couple of large rocks that create relatively deep grooves in the wheel, making it unsuitable for truing the 120 grit white oxide wheel and marginal for the 80 grit wheel. My compromise is to make the wheel round and straight when needed with this diamond dresser, then use a flat carborundum stone to make the surface smooth enough for sharpening my lathe tools - if the wheel isn't out of round, I just use the carborundum stone. This diamond dresser isn't useless, but it'd be a lot better for my use if the grit was more consistent. It's Chinese, so the one you buy may be different.

Comments about Wheel Dresser, Diamond Tip :

Works Great. I can see where if a person would press it too hard to the wheel the surface might grind off but all it takes is a very light pressure to do a very good job. I have used it on a 120 wheel and an 80 grit wheel and no trouble.
