Comments about Nova DVR XP Lathe :

Very impressive unit. I think I prefer a knob to adjust the speed but if there were individual buttons for the preset speeds I might amend that. I hate to slight such a great machine but this is just my opinion. I can't herald enough praise about the rest of the machine. Such smooth power and grace. I have so much less trouble with chatter.

I am a pro cabinet builder-carperner. This is my first lathe. I was able to turn a vase 4" x 12" with an hour glass shape 1/4" thick out of blood wood with no problems. This is a very easy to learn and use lathe.

Comments about Nova DVR XP Lathe :

After months of research this is the one I choose. I self taught myself on this lathe how to turn. The simplicity of the operations and features made my learning experience so much easier. I am 100% glad I bought this lathe. Only downside is all the accessories are expensive, but maybe all accessories are?

Comments about Nova DVR XP Lathe :

I'm just starting out as a woodturner and thought this would be a good lathe to grow into. It has every capability I'm ever likely to need and appears to be an excellent choice. One thing I do think is lacking is a kill switch that could be knee operated.

Comments about Nova DVR XP Lathe :

I love this lathe, the best I've ever worked on. The only design change I would make to this lathe is the tool rest! The base part of the tool rest could be made 1'' to 1.5 '' higher! This is the part that supports different tool rests. By being taller or higher more of the 1 inch shaft is inserted into the tool rest base unit providing stronger support! Also the threaded shaft that locks the tool rest in place would be higher up so when tighten would not touch the lever cam lock of the tool rest base! Although the indiviual tool rest have a 4 inch shaft they protrude up 2 plus inches!!

Comments about Nova DVR XP Lathe :

I purchased this lathe after thinking about it for a long time. When it went on sale I finally broke down and got one. WOW!!! am I ever happy that I made the leap. I have a VERY small work space and needed a lathe that would work on a bench. It works like a dream and will turn anything I am ever likely to turn. It turns so smoothly it is hard to believe. I have turned vases up to 5x12 and bowls up to 12 by 5 1/2. Although it will turn much bigger bowls this is as high as I go for the time being. I have also turned small items such as hollow form ornaments, pens, candlesticks, etc. It has handled them all with beautiful precision. The ability to preset speeds is a huge plus. I doubt I will ever need another lathe and I don't think that I would want one. Later I did purchase an extension bed and I highly recommend getting one. It makes life a lot easier.

Comments about Nova DVR XP Lathe :

This is my second Nova Lathe. The first was a DVR 3000. It was an excellent lathe but lacked the power of DVR Xp. The heavy cast iron construction adds to the smoothness of the lathe's operation. I would recommend this lathe to professionals as well as home DIY people.
