Product Information:

These oil-based Gel Topcoats and Stains are quite possibly the easiest of all finishes to use and achieve a "hand-rubbed" look without all the work. Application is easy with a foam brush or lint free cloth. The heavy bodied gel formulation permits the product to flow out evenly (no drips or runs) preventing uneven penetration for consistent color control. Gel Topcoat may be used to top coat any stain. Although Gel Stains contain urethane, Gel Topcoat has a higher content of urethane and may be used to top coat Gel Stains for more protection. Gel Topcoat is available in satin. For semi-gloss or gloss sheens, use Arm-R-Seal Topcoat.

  • Pleasant odor
  • Water, alcohol and heat resistant
  • Will never chip, crack or peel.
  • Non-toxic after drying
  • Stains are compatible with other topcoats

If you liked Bartley's finish, you will enjoy using this one. 3 coats leave a finish with a slight sheen, between satin and semi-gloss. Quick easy to use and low odor. Highly recommend.

Very easy to use and dried to a very nice but more than what I would consider a Satin finish. I will use it as my primary finish.

Comments about Clear Satin Topcoat Gel Stain, Quart :

Application was a breeze with a small pad of recyled T-shirt rags. Applied 3 thin coats that dried quickly to a smooth, professional-looking finish. I probably would not have used it as the final step refinishing my kitchen cabinets if I'd known how shiny it would be. I'd call it a semi-gloss or glossy semi-gloss. I'll try wet sanding to get rid of some shine and if that doesn't work re-coat with another product.

Comments about Clear Satin Topcoat Gel Stain, Quart :

A great and foolproof way to a professional finish. Light "straw" color, similar to solvent lacquers.Apply thin coats with a cloth pad on properly prepped wood, and you won't need to sand between coats or after the final coat. levels out and dries evenly, a fantastic product. A little glossier than the typical "satin" after 3 or more coats. A "must have" in anyone's finish cabinet.

Comments about Clear Satin Topcoat Gel Stain, Quart :

I'm using this for a table-top finish on cherry plywood behind an oil/varnish first coat to bring out the grain. The combination of finishes on cherry is truly beautiful. They advertise this finish as a matte and it is definitely a matte so I can't complain. But a semi-gloss option would be perfection.
