Rough Cut – Woodworking with Tommy Mac Earns Bronze Telly AwardsBack to Press Releases
PARKERSBURG, W. VA. (April 2012) — Quality content and visual presentation captured two 2012 Bronze Telly Awards for Rough Cut – Woodworking with Tommy Mac, a WGBH Boston public television production with major funding from Woodcraft.

The Telly Awards program, founded in 1979, offers the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films, according to information on the Telly website. The Silver Telly Council evaluates entries to recognize distinction in creative work when selecting Silver and Bronze Telly winners. Entries do not compete against each other; entries are judged against a high standard of merit.

Rough Cut won Bronze Telly Awards for information and videography/cinematography in the TV Programs, Segments or Promotional Pieces category, reflecting the show’s outstanding informational programming content, visual design of the production, and the process of capturing moving images.

"This is truly an honor that Tommy and I are thrilled to share with the entire Rough Cut team and our sponsors,” said Laurie Donnelly, executive producer of the series. "Esteemed competitions like the Telly awards are a great way of getting feedback from industry colleagues. This is the second year that we've been acknowledged as part of this highly competitive awards competition."

Last year, after the first season, Rough Cut won a Bronze Telly for best informational programming and was nominated for a Daytime® Emmy Award. The current season’s 13 episodes include a mix of traditional- and contemporary-style projects, along with woodworking techniques and processes and “T-Mac tips.” Road trips outside Boston include California and New York.
