|Woodcraft Magazine's Circulation Gain Brings National Recognition Back to Press Releases
|PARKERSBURG, W. VA. (September 2011) — Woodcraft Magazine, a woodworking magazine not quite seven years old, is fifth among the top 25 consumer magazines that gained circulation in the first six months of 2011. Woodcraft Supply, LLC, is the magazine’s parent company.
In a Media Life article, “Niche titles dominate circulation gainers,” Toni Fitzgerald reports that while not many magazines are growing their circulation in this economy, niche publications are actually posting gains, some very substantial.
“Unlike, say, celebrity titles or women’s service magazines, which target a broad swath of people with general news and advice that is widely available online, these niche titles offer information that’s not commonly found elsewhere. They also tend to enjoy stronger reader loyalties,” Fitzgerald writes. “Because of that, they have managed to attract and even hold onto bigger readerships even as the economy continues to struggle and the Web takes further bites out of readership of more mainstream titles.”
Based on Audit Bureau of Circulation data cited by Fitzgerald, Woodcraft Magazine’s paid and verified circulation for the six months ending June 30, 2011, was 100,581, compared to 78,914 for the same period the previous year – a 27.46 percent gain.
