Woodcraft Plans Sales Conference/Trade Show in Nashville Woodworking Personalities To Attend Back to Press Releases
PARKERSBURG, W. VA. (June 2011) — Woodcraft retail store owners will gather at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, from June 21-24 for the 14th annual sales conference and trade show. Joining them will be several woodworking and DIY personalities.

Woodcraft Supply, LLC, founded in Boston in 1928, is one of the nation's oldest and largest suppliers of quality woodworking tools, supplies, and plans. The company’s more than 20,000 products are sold at woodcraft.com/stores/" target="_blank">retail stores in over 70 major metropolitan areas across the U.S., through two million catalogs distributed annually in all 50 states and 117 countries, and online at woodcraft.com.

“Woodcraft organizes this annual event to bring the franchise community, key suppliers and the corporate staff from all around the country together in an environment where they can exchange ideas, explore new sales, marketing and management techniques and share information about the latest woodworking tools and products,” president Jeff Forbes explained. “The real success of this event has been the opportunity to meet face to face and communicate on a personal level, rather than by email, smart phone or some other electronic means.”

WGBH Boston, producer of the public television show Rough Cut – Woodworking with Tommy Mac, which Woodcraft sponsors, will have a booth at the trade show, and Rough Cut host Thomas MacDonald will be on hand to meet attendees. Scott Phillips, host of The American Woodshop on PBS; Danny Lipford, host of Today’s Homeowner (television) and Homefront with Danny Lipford (radio); and Rob Cosman, well-known for his woodworking classes, books, DVDs and YouTube videos, will also participate.

Bob Phibbs, author of The Retail Doctor’s Guide to Growing Your Business, is keynote speaker for the Tuesday evening kickoff dinner. His talk will focus on applying old techniques to achieve positive results in store management. On Wednesday morning, Carl Forssen will present “Profit Mastery®”, an approach to strategic financial analysis that focuses on solving the problems that cause financial distress. After lunch, owners will gather in small groups for round table discussions about topics specific to Woodcraft franchise store operations. Presentations by Danny Lipford and his Homefront cohost, Allen Lyle, and by hand-tool expert Rob Cosman will follow.

On Thursday and Friday, over 120 companies, such as Kreg Tool, Stanley Black & Decker, JET, and Festool, will display products for store owners to check out. On Thursday, Danny Lipford will be interviewing attendees for his June 25 Homefront radio show, to be aired 10 a.m.-noon ET and available at www.homefront.com. Closing ceremonies will be held aboard the General Jackson Sternwheeler.

The face-to-face time at the trade show benefits store owners and managers in many ways, according to Woodcraft sales promotion manager Jack Bigger. “They will spend a great deal of time ‘mining’ as much product knowledge from the supplier as possible. Armed with that knowledge, they can educate the store sales staff and ultimately the Woodcraft customer.” Also, Bigger said seeing what is new in tools and related products “helps keep Woodcraft on the cutting edge of woodworking.”
