|Parkersburg, WV (June 2009) – Woodcraft, America’s oldest woodworking retail chain and headquartered in Parkersburg, WV, will hold its twelfth annual national vendor trade show in Charleston June 14-17 at both the Charleston Civic Center and Marriott Hotel, company officials announced.
Jeff Forbes, President of Woodcraft Supply, said, “We are proud to be a West Virginia company with nearly 90 stores across the continental U.S. and Hawaii. This is the largest privately held woodworking show in the United States and we expect an international crowd comprised of our franchise owners, vendors and employees.”
Forbes said the purpose of the multi-day event is to bring the company’s franchise store owners together to share ideas, learn new sales and marketing techniques and to be exposed to the latest woodworking products and tools.
“The trade show is an opportunity for our franchise owners to interact with our vendors and purchase products for the coming year,” Forbes said. “Nearly 120 companies, such as Freud, Porter Cable, JET, DeWalt and others, will be represented at the show. We will also use this time to give our guests a true flavor of West Virginia.”
Woodcraft began in a one-room shop in Boston’s North End in 1928. Since that time, the company has grown to include 88 retail locations in more than 70 major metropolitan areas throughout the U.S. Its catalog, considered the standard by woodworkers, features over 8,000 items. More than 2 million catalogs are distributed annually to all 50 states and 117 foreign countries.
The company has grown with the times to meet the needs and lifestyles of its woodworking hobbyist, “do-it-yourselfer” and professional customer base. Woodcraft was quick to implement its online strategy in 1995 with Woodcraft.com, and the site now boasts over 1,000,000 visitors per month. Woodcraft Magazine has also become a trusted source for woodworking projects, techniques and products. Published six times per year, the publication is distributed nationally.
Forbes said, “We are excited to hold our event in Charleston for the second year in a row and are very appreciative of all the employees, customers and suppliers that have helped us achieve continued success.”
