Melamine, particle board, and MDF (medium density fiberboard) are notorious for their poor holding power when it comes to most traditional fasteners but the European market found a solution for fastening these innovative materials. Confirmat style connecting screws are designed for cabinets or other types of box construction. These unique fasteners act like a steel dowel forming a strong, stiff butt joint. They have a large shoulder under the head that locks the screw into the wood and prevents pulling through into softer materials. A tight fitting Pozi® drive makes running these screws a breeze.

Assembly
Confirmat style fasteners have a blunt point. To install, simply align the two pieces and drill a pilot hole with a specially designed three step bit. A slight unthreaded portion at the tip makes it easy to line up the holes during assembly. Recommended spacing is no more than 37mm from each end and no more than 128 mm apart throughout the joint.

Confirmat Screw Step Drills
These 3-tiered step bits are designed so you can easily replace the brad point drill (replacements sold separately) if it is damaged. Shanks are 1/4" hex so they can be changed for the Pozi-Drive driver bits in a snap.

Reusability
Confirmat Style Connecting Screws were designed for use in European knock down cabinets so they may be removed and reinserted many times without damage to fastener or material.

Pozi-Drive Recess and Driver
Small hash marks oriented at 45 degrees to the wings of the recess identifies the Pozi-Drive recess. Commonly mistaken for Phillips, the Pozi Drive Recess provides superior drivability. The parallel sides of the wings of a Pozi Drive bit positively hold in the recess and resist stripping.
