TORMEK Turning Tool Setter
The second hardest sharpening task for a woodturner is getting the correct profile on their bowl gouges. The hardest? Duplicating that profile the next time they go to the wheel without grinding away half the tool - Tormek's new Turning Tool Setter, when used with their Universal Gouge Jig on a Tormek Super Grind, reduces the process of grinding and honing a bowl gouge down to a 60 second process
- The process is so accurate you'll find yourself removing the absolute minimum amount of steel to get a perfect edge
- Bowl gouges (up to 1" diam.) can be ground to either 45° or 55°, spindle gouges to a 30° fingernail profile
- The TTS will also work with skews up to 1-1/4" wide, either flat or curved edge, when used with a Multi Jig, thanks to the exact settings at each sharpening - you can just touch up the edge and the work is done in seconds
- You do not shape but sharpen the tool, the built in settings give you pre-determined edge geometries, which are recommended by experienced turners around the world
